Railway engineering works from Faversham - Dover Priory via Canterbury East 11 - 18 February

Published: 2 Feb 23

Southeastern customers are being asked to plan ahead and leave more time to complete their journeys, as buses will replace trains during the project. During this time Network Rail will be undertaking a £3 million project to stabilise cuttings and embankments at six sites along the line. This is part of the wider £1.25 billion South East Upgrade, which is improving the railway across East Sussex, Kent and South London. The work on this line will protect the railway from the risk of landslips, meaning better performance, more reliable journeys, and an improved customer experience for passengers. One of the biggest pieces of work will be the installation of a 30-metre reinforced concrete wall at the bottom of the railway cutting at Selling tunnel; this is one of the most at-risk sites for landslips, and so this reinforced wall will help to keep the railway safe. SE Water response to a complaint about leaks

Published: 27 Jul 22

Dear Selling Parish Council, thank you for your email and for your patience in awaiting my response. I understand you are continuing to receive contacts from our customers in your area in regards to the water leaks in Selling, therefore I do hope the information I have included below alleviates yours and your residents’ concerns. I can confirm that we have successfully installed multiple non-return valves (NRV’s) to our network in Selling, in order to improve the water supply issues in the area. We have also permanently installed a sensor in order to detect any anomalies or trends in the water mains before any bursts occur. This will help prevent leaks in the area, whilst also allowing us to prepare for any large bursts. If you are aware of any leakage issues in the area please do let us know so as we can arrange for these to be fixed promptly. I would like to apologise for any inconvenience or frustration caused by the leaks in Selling, however I hope to have provided assurance that we are committed to improving the issues in the area and preventing water wastage. Likely disruption on the roads this Easter holidays

Published: 7 Apr 22

Local communities should prepare for potential disruption on the roads this weekend (8-10 April) as the Easter getaway gets underway. With P&O Ferries cancelling all services this weekend and potential for poor weather conditions, tourists and hauliers using cross-Channel services from Dover and Folkestone are being advised to allow extra time for their journey and to be prepared for long delays. Traffic management is in place for cross-Channel freight traffic which must join the queue on the M20. HGV drivers are advised that enforcement is in place across the Kent network to deal with queue jumping and you will be sent to the back of the queue. Inevitably, this is having a major impact on local traffic. Local diversions are in place, but please allow extra time for your journey. Arrangements are also in place to filter HGVs making local deliveries. Read More...
