Southern Water...

Chair of Selling Parish Council, Andrew Bowles, has been well and truly on the case with South East Water in the past few days to keep their focus on the leaks affecting many parts of Selling.

Here is his latest update following most recent enquiries with the managers of SE Water:

Leak in vicinity of Harewood House, Hogbens Hill has been repacked and reinstatement of road surface authorised.

Leak in vicinity of White Lion was due a reinspection on Friday 16 August and contractors had road dug up, again.

Leak in vicinity of Norham, is due reinspection on Tuesday 20th. This is believed to be cause of flooding in Selling Road on way to Neames Forstal/ Selling Station.

Another leak has been reported, in the vicinity of Shepherds Hill. When the Inspector visited it was raining and leak could not be located. Further inspection is due.

The Selling area, especially Selling Road, is one that SE Water are monitoring to see if number of leaks justifies a mains replacement. They cannot give a timespan. Any major works will need road closure notices with subsequent cost implication.

For information a leak that has been reported in Dunkirk Road South / Hickman Green area of Dunkirk, which may be effecting Selling residents, is due for investigation. A road closure notice will probably be needed to effect repairs.
